What is The True Gospel?

The Mosaic Covenant was an agreement between the people of Israel and their Creator that the Eternal [YHVH]  would be their God and king and that they would be his people, his nation.

The people promised to live by every Word of God and God promised that if they did so they would be physically blessed and would be a great kingdom.  The terms and conditions and how to maintain the Mosaic Covenant were the good news [gospel] of the physical kingdom of God.

That Covenant had no promise of eternal life and was a transitory limited promise, since after a few years a person would die. Then God promised the people a New Covenant in Jeremiah 31 and Ezekiel 36.

This New Covenant would have an effectual sacrifice for sin that would go beyond physical animal sacrifices and would atone for all repented sin on a spiritual level, reconciling the sincerely repentant to God the Father, and promised the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to enable future obedience.  The New Covenant also contained the promise of a change of our bodies into spirit and God’s gift of eternal life in an eternal kingdom of God!

The Mosaic Gospel was:  Be faithful to God in the physical commonwealth of Israel and receive all of the physical blessings that God has promised.

The New Covenant Gospel was also about a Kingdom of God.  It was:   Repent and be baptized and the sacrifice of the Lamb of God will be applied to you, and if you persevere and overcome sin by the power of God dwelling in you, you will receive a new spirit body and eternal life in an eternal Kingdom of God!

John Baptist opened the way for Christ; what did John preach?

Matthew 3:1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Luke 3:2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

John preached the Gospel of sincere repentance from all sins as the way into the New Covenant Kingdom of God!  Even going as far as refusing to baptize people until they proved the sincerity of their repentance.  Telling the elders and religious leaders:

Luke 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

What did Jesus Christ preach?  He preached the Gospel of the New Covenant Kingdom of God; and what did he say?  He proclaimed:   Repent!

Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

We cannot go wrong if we preach the same thing that Christ preached which is what Christ commanded us to preach.

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Let us now go to the Feast of Pentecost in 31 A.D. when God poured out his Spirit on a few opening an opportunity for Peter to preach to he people.  What did Peter preach?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

What was Peter telling them and us to repent from?  We are to sincerely repent of all our sins and commit to sin no more, so that we may be justified by the application of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Peter goes on to say that only those who obey God may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified [by the application of Christ’s sacrifice].

The New Covenant Gospel is the Gospel of the Eternal  Kingdom of God and the way into that Kingdom which is by sincere Repentance, a commitment to stop sinning, baptism into God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, and the application of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Passover Lamb for us; which then brings the gift of the Holy Spirit!

Then if we persevere and endure, we shall be resurrected to eternal life as a spirit in the eternal Kingdom of God.

To preach about a coming kingdom without preaching sincere repentance and living by every Word of God as The Way Into That Kingdom, is to focus on the end reward and neglect the process of getting there!

Preaching about a coming kingdom is alright, but if the most important thing – how to enter that kingdom – is neglected; we are preaching a false gospel through omitting the most important aspect of the Gospel!

When we do not call people to sincere repentance we are NOT doing our job!  Again we are commanded by Jesus Christ to preach what he preached which was repentance from all sin and to live by every Word of God (Mat 4:4).

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

What is our commission?  Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

God has called us out to be teachers of righteousness [teachers of every Word of God] and to be watchman, warning the people to repent in sincerity and truth.

It is just that simple; the true Gospel is every Word that Jesus Christ and the Apostles taught.  The true Gospel is not limited to proclaiming that a Kingdom of God is coming!  What kind of Kingdom will that be without any citizens if the way into that Kingdom -The Way of Salvation – is not taught?

Ezekiel 3:17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

Brethren, we have NOT been doing our job!  Since at least 1970 HWA and his major daughter churches have been preaching a bland inoffensive message about a coming kingdom of God;  and they have NOT been powerfully proclaiming the Gospel of Salvation and The Way Into the Kingdom of God!  No wonder that Jesus Christ finds them offensive and will spue them out of his body [his Ekklesia, assembly] in the immediate future!

God told Ezekiel what we are to preach and he revealed what would happen to us if we refuse to steadfastly proclaim the Gospel of Repentance.

Ezekiel 33:1 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 33:2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

33:3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people33:4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.  33:5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

33:7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way [warn sinners to repent], that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

33:10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?  33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: [we are to preach to the people repent, repent of all sins] turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

33:12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness [sincerely repents]; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

33:13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

33:14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; 33:15 If the wicked [sincerely repents] restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. 33:16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
