Restoring the Seven Day Feast of Unleavened Bread

There are three commanded assemblies in which the people are told to appear before the Eternal in the place that God shall choose.   This article is about restoring God’s seven day, Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Herbert Armstrong had begun and was learning and growing until in late 1967 Loma Armstrong died of bowel cancer, after that time Herbert came under the full persuasive spell of Stanley Rader [a 32 degree mason] and Robert Kuhn, who convinced him to adopt the Roman Catholic Nicolatiane church government system Primacy of Peter heresy and to abandon the true Gospel for a business model outreach approach.  Later Rader was to brag that he had “Entered”  Armstrong into the lodge, which then arranged the Armstrong international contacts.  See also a History of the  HWA Ministry.

At that time Herbert also abandoned observing the Jerusalem new moons with bible studies, the observance of the Feast of Unleavened Bread for the full seven days as the pilgrim feast God had commanded, and began to allow people to trample all over the Sabbath even cooking and going out to restaurants.

How many COG people today know that the Radio Church of God celebrated this festival for the full 7 days – just like the Feast of Tabernacles? Then in 1968 (when the church was renamed Worldwide) all of the Passover/Unleavened Bread Festival sites were cancelled?
The May, 1962, issue of The Good News magazine reported on God’s Passover Observed World-wide. This article was written by Evangelist Roderick C. Meredith. Over 10,000 brethren of the Radio Church of God in seven major Festival locations in America, plus others in England, Australia, and around the world, observed a glorious Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Unlike the common practice today of having Passover and Night to Be Remembered locally in homes, and perhaps Holy Day services on the first and last days of unleavened bread, the practice then was to observe an eight-day festival with the whole church in central places, with multiple sermons and Bible Studies every day, just like the Feast of Tabernacles.” (Days of Zeal Gone By, Richard Nickels)

In 1952 Herbert and Loma Armstrong travelled to Gladewater, Texas, for Passover and the 1st holy day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread. They were overwhelmed by the large numbers who came, not only from Texas, but as far afield as Wisconsin and Michigan.

As they were returning home to Pasadena, Herbert Armstrong wrote“We know now – God has shown us plainly and unmistakably – that we must have an adequate place of our own in this central location for the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread EVERY YEAR.

There were probably a few hundred others who would have wanted to be at this Festival this week, had they known in time, and if we had an adequate assembly place for so many to meet …

Next Spring, we shall plan a full eight-day festival, to last thru the entire seven days of unleavened bread following the Passover, and all who plan to come are urged now, with a year ahead to plan, to start laying plans to come for the entire eight days …

Yes, this opens up AN ENTIRE NEW PHASE of God’s great work. This will provide a place for annual great conclaves of God’s people, where many who cannot come as far as Pasadena can meet together at God’s great festivals. What has happened assures that in a year or two there will be several hundred attending. WHAT A BLESSING THIS WILL BE! We who are co-workers together need to MEET TOGETHER as often as possible. The United States is a great nation, and we live long distances apart. We cannot all meet together every Sabbath. But most of us can, and WILL, meet and feast together in these SPIRITUAL feasts which God has appointed, and where we have HIS VERY OWN INVISIBLE PRESENCE with us!”

The Radio Church of God continued observing both festivals at many regional feast sites for the full 7 days until 1967. In 1968 (when the church was renamed the Worldwide CoG) observance of the full 7–day observance was discontinued. Herbert Armstrong’s wife Loma died in 1967 and, lacking her counsel, he was quickly persuaded that maximizing income for “the Work” must in future be the priority.

The article Days of Unleavened Bread – How Should They Be Observed? [p.2] by the Church of God the Eternal (supporting the change to observing only the 2 high days), explains:  “Many Church of God members remember the marvellous spiritual sermons and exciting fellowship that went along with this festival. But some time during the mid-sixties, the practice was discontinued … the receipt of income for “the Work” was appreciably reduced each Spring, because most of the members did not receive any salary or wages during the week they attended the seven Days of Unleavened Bread. Consequently, tithes and offerings dropped off alarmingly in the Spring … It was felt by Mr. Armstrong [under the advice of Stan Rader] that if the Gospel [by Gospel meaning the new business model outreach to bring in a big income] were to continue to go forth with growth and power, the membership would have to be in a financial position to contribute heavily. The observance of the Days of Unleavened Bread for the full seven days was thwarting this effort.”

In other words, obeying God was thwarting their business efforts.

At that time Herbert was convinced by Rader that he had the Primacy of Peter power to bind and loose God’s Word and commandments at his own discretion.  He then made a conscious effort to water down the truth to make his church more acceptable to other Sabbatarian organizations and the general public.

The Three Pilgrim Feasts

There are three commanded assemblies in which the people are told to appear before the Eternal in the place that God shall choose.   This article is about observing the three pilgrim Feasts in the New Covenant (Jer 31:31) dispensation.

Deuteronomy 16:16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

People were to journey to and keep the Passover before God at the place where God was,.

Deuteronomy 16:5 Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee: 16:6 But at the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.

They were then to remain in that place for the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Deu 16:6).  This was a simple matter in the wilderness since God had placed his name [presence] in the Tabernacle which was with the camp of all Israel.

Later Solomon built the Temple of God at Jerusalem and God placed his name [presence] there [through the presence of the Holy Spirit or Shekinah 2 Chr 7:1-3] and all the people of Israel were to appear before the LORD at the Temple where God had placed his names [presence] for each of the pilgrim Feasts.

2 Chronicles 6:6 But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

1 Kings 9:3 And the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

2 Chronicles 7:16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

Because Israel was now scattered throughout Palestine including east of Jordan it now became more difficult for all Israel to appear at this one place three time each year.  This is why God had commanded that only the males appear before him at these three Feasts.

Deuteronomy 16:16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

God knew that the ladies would have particular problems like pregnancy or young children making it very hard for them to make these journey’s, but he did not forbid them to come.

Quite the opposite God encouraged the women to come to the three Pilgrim Feasts and to present themselves before God.

God wants our ladies to attend these Festivals, it is just that in his mercy he did not expressly command them because of their special situation.

Deuteronomy 12:12 And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

There was also another reason for commanding only the males to appear before God.  God had decreed that the males were to be the heads of their households and therefore the presence of each male represented the presence of his entire household.

The law or instruction from the books of Moses is: Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire [women are to be subject to] shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Thus we have in principle the concept that representatives of households [in this case the males] were to appear before God.

It is also self-evident that some people were left at home; the unclean, the very young or very aged, the seriously ill and their care givers and those needed  to care for the flocks and herds; but the intent was and is, that as many males [in particular heads of households] as possible attend the three annual pilgrim Festivals.

The three annual Festivals were for the people to appear before the LORD to learn of Him; to worship God and to exalt Him and to rejoice with their God.

We are to rejoice; NOT because, as some wrongly think, that they will get theirs and dominate others in the Kingdom of God, but because we shall be laborers bringing in the sheaves of humanity into the family of God!  Saving humanity!

When someone is well off, they are NOT to spend their Festival tithe on tourist activities and non God centered activities, instead they are to share with their less well off brethren.

14:27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

These are Feasts and the word Feast is not used for nothing. However the physical feasting is not to transcend the spiritual feasting on the Word of God. This is not about having a grand personal vacation with God’s money; it started out as a physical harvest feast in the Mosaic Covenant which had no understood spiritual content. Jesus Christ came to reveal the spiritual significance and application of the physical harvest Feasts and we are called into a new and spiritual Covenant with Christ.

The New Covenant called out are called to rejoice in the spiritual, rather than to just revel in the physical.

The New Covenant Feasts

Jesus knew that the physical temple would be destroyed and the people scattered,  the physical Temple had been the place of the presence of God and on Pentecost 31 A.D. the Spirit of God left that physical Temple to dwell exclusively within the persons of the spiritually called out to God.  This subject of God now dwelling within his spiritually called out is the main subject of many of the Epistles.

Knowing that God and Christ would dwell in the called out and that God would be present in the people and not in a physical Temple Jesus declared that after his resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit:

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them

In the New Covenant dispensation  Jesus Christ and God the Father will dwell in their faithful called out ones through the agency of the Holy Spirit and they need not go to some physical Temple [which no longer exists], but may meet together in any agreed location, and God the Father and Jesus Christ – by the Holy Spirit – will be present among them just as God was present in the physical Temple through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Women should attend these pilgrim Feasts – which because there is no physical Temple may be held at any place convenient for today’s spiritually called out – and rejoice with their families, but there is no specific command for them to do so.

The special circumstances of the end of the age of Satan

The various major corporate church groups are apostate from the Word of God, exalting the false traditions of men above the Word of God.  I am not presently setting up Feast sites because God’s faithful are widely scattered around the world.  The hour of trial is about to come upon this world and there will be no large Feast sites operating.

During this time I advise the brethren to follow the instructions of Jesus Christ and meet together with like minded persons even if only a small handful.

If you know of no others you can still visit and study the material at these websites and spend the days in prayer and reflection while avoiding any work on the High Days and weekly Sabbath.

Those who are still fence sitting can go to their corporate sites and discuss the scriptures with others.

The 42 month tribulation could easily begin at the end of 2018 or shortly after that.  During that time very many will have to learn to stand alone on the Word of God and may not have either Feast sites or even Sabbath congregations to attend.

The Third Temple Period

After Jesus Christ comes he will build the third Temple and the physical sacrifices and offerings will be renewed (See Ezekiel 40-48).  The descendants of loyal Zadok will be called into the New Covenant of Jer 31:31; and as New Covenant physical priests will officiate in the physical duties of this third Temple.  At that time Jesus Christ will clarify every detail of the Temple service and every detail of the spiritual meaning of that Temple service and God’s sacrificial system.

In the millennium it will not be possible for every person of the billions on earth to go to Jerusalem three times a year [look at the problems Mecca has with a few million at the Hajj once each year and add to that the sacrifices and offerings], but our LORD will resolve that problem; perhaps by having the nations send different representatives each year to each Festival – which precedent has already been set by commanding the males to appear on behalf of their families – while most people in the nations keep the Festivals in their own countries as the Ekklesia does today.  Remember that God through his Spirit will dwell in ALL FLESH (Joel 2:29) at that time, not dwelling exclusively in the Third Physical Temple.

On these three occasions a free will  offering is to be made.  Since the three occasions are specifically named, it is NOT lawful to teach that God commands offerings on any other day.

To take up offerings twice on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, or on the Feast of Trumpets, the Fast of Atonement, or the Eighth Day, by telling the brethren the lie that God commands them to do so, is the sin of speaking falsely in the name of the LORD.  It is lawful to ask for offerings outside of the three commanded occasions, but it is NOT lawful to do so in the name of the LORD.

Deuteronomy 16:16   Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks [Pentecost; while Pentecost is a Holy Day; offerings are to be taken up only once during each of the other two seven day Festivals.], and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty: 16:17  Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

It is a sin to lie to the people and falsely teach that seven offerings are required by God as some do.  It is ALSO a sin to give bigger offerings than we can afford while neglecting the responsibilities of properly paying our debts and properly caring for the families that God has gifted us with.  Do keep the Word of God, and do not let smooth tongued men entice you to give more that is appropriate in your own financial situation.

The Meaning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread

As the weekly Sabbath is a memorial of the physical creation, the Feast of Unleavened Bread being an annual Festival expands the concept from the weekly “days” to millennia in meaning, and adds the concept of victory over bondage to sin and Satan, and the creation of a spiritual people.

While the weekly Sabbath day is a memorial of a physical creation; the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a memorial of the exodus from bondage in Egypt, as a Symbolic type and a prophecy of deliverance from bondage to sin and the SPIRITUAL CREATION of a godly people.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread journey out of physical Egypt is an allegory about the New Covenant person’s journey out of sin and the creation of a new spiritual being in Christ, through the putting out of the leaven of sin, and the internalizing of the very mind and nature of God the Father.

The annual seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is an allegory of seven thousand years in which God has been calling out a kind of early first fruits of the New Covenant.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

For six thousand years since righteous Abel God has been calling out a kind of early fist fruits of the New Covenant as witnessed by the many who were given God’s Spirit during that time like Moses, Joshua, Noah, Abel, Job, David, Elijah, John Baptist, Jesus Christ and so many others.

They will be resurrected at the end of the  sixth day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread as pictured by Israel coming up out of the Red Sea [a type of the grave] at the end of the sixth day of Unleavened Bread.

Then the seventh day, the last day of that Feast, is a High Holy Day Sabbath during which time Satan is restrained and the Lamb of God will reside on the earth with humanity; and during that one thousand years all of humanity then living will also be added to the early harvest of first fruits.

After which we come to the Fall Festivals, and the resurrection and harvest into the Family of God, of all those who have ever lived before not having been a part of the early harvest of first fruits.

The High Holy Day, seventh day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread pictures a seventh day millennial rest, and the climax of the spiritual creation of the early harvest of first fruits.

The weekly seventh day is a day of rest from physical activities to spend with our God, learning of him. The seventh day High Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, pictures a millennial Sabbath of rest with our Creator, ruling over the whole earth for a thousand years!

As we rest with God and spend our time with our Creator to learn of him each weekly Sabbath; so we shall rest from the struggle against the king of sin, Satan who will be restrained during that time, for a millennial Sabbath of rest in the presence of our God learning of Him and the way to peace and life everlasting.

Paul tells that there remains yet a Sabbath of rest for the people of God; and this could not be the weekly Sabbath, because it is still future!

Hebrews 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Israel, on the first High Holy Day; marched out of Egypt with a high hand; picturing the beginning of their deliverance by God, as a type of the beginning of a spiritual creation!

Then on the sixth day they crossed the Red Sea and rising up on the other side near the end of the day symbolized rising up from the grave in resurrection from the dead.

The seventh day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is an Annual High Holy Day of rejoicing over deliverance from the bondage of sin and the grave; and at a day for a thousand years represents a millennial Sabbath of rest.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Physical Israel in Egypt and their deliverance out of bondage in Egypt is an instructional analogy of a kind of first fruits being Called Out from bondage to sin!

As Israel journeyed out of Egypt for six days and was delivered at the end of the sixth day to then enjoy an annual High Holy Day Sabbath of rest, with Pharaoh no longer chasing them; that Sabbath of rest was ON the Seventh day of ULB!

Even so God has been Calling Out a kind of early first fruits since righteous Abel until the very end of six thousand years! To be followed by a resurrection to spirit of the chosen; and a millennial Sabbath of rest for all humanity with our Maker; and Satan of which pharaoh was a type, removed for that 1,000 year High Day Sabbath.

As these people marched out of Egypt on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, they were commanded to observe that day as an Annual Anniversary Holy Day marking their “CALLING OUT” of Egypt, it pictures the beginning of God’s plan to spiritually “CALL OUT” a kind of early first fruits from this world of bondage to sin and their journey out of sin!

As the weekly seventh day Sabbath pictures a weekly rest with the Creator of a physical people, the High Holy Day Sabbath of rest on the seventh day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread pictures a millennial Sabbath of rest in the presence of the Creator [and in the absence of Satan the true pharaoh of sin] with a spiritual people; and the New Covenant of promise (Jer 31:31) extended to all humanity!!

Since the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a Holy Day; why is the first day of the week not a Holy Day? Because the first day of the week refers to the beginning of a physical creation; while the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread refers to the beginning of a spiritual creation!

The physical creation was completed in SIX days and God and man rested on the seventh day. As the physical creation was completed at the end of six days, the spiritual creation must also be COMPLETED at the end of the SIXTH day; while both the physical and the spiritual creation are capped by a Sabbath of rest with God.

Brethren, we KNOW that there was a physical creation in six days and that God rested WITH his creation at the completion of the physical creation; on the seventh day!

We know that the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a type of a spiritual creation to be completed in six days [six thousand years] to be followed by a thousand year millennial Sabbath.

This all happened as a lesson for us, for the first day was to teach us that God began his spiritual creation on the first day [at the very beginning with righteous Abel] for which reason Israel did not wait until the morning but marched out of Egypt at sunset beginning the first day, at the very beginning of the Feast!

This teaches us that God began calling out his first fruits of a spiritual creation at the very beginning of a seven thousand year plan!

This explains the possession of God’s Spirit by so many of the ancients [given in FAITH, BEFORE the death of Christ] who have obeyed God in faith and are now waiting for that Millennial Sabbath of rest referred to by Paul in Hebrews 11, and the many others not mentioned specifically by Paul.

Were not Abel, Enoch, Moses, Elijah, Noah, Jeremiah, Ezra and so many thousands of others called out from the very beginning of the past six thousand years? Called out in FAITH that Jesus Christ WOULD complete his mission? While we who are in Christ now, must have faith that Jesus Christ DID successfully complete his mission? There is absolutely NO contradiction in this; for the Just shall LIVE BY FAITH; regardless of when they are called!

As the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is holy, showing the beginning of God’s spiritual creation; the seventh day is also holy; because it represents the completion of the creation of the spiritual first fruits and a millennial Sabbath of rest without Satan and in the presence of our Creator.

We see that Israel marched out of Egypt on the first day; and crossing that Sea of Death on the sixth day and marching out of Death at the end of the sixth day; in a type of resurrection; to begin the Holy Seventh Day of rest with our Creator!

We see that the armies of Pharaoh were destroyed at the end of the sixth day; as Satan will be bound at the end of the six thousand years; bound for the seventh one thousand years!

We see that the First High Day of Unleavened Bread pictures the beginning of God’s calling out of Egypt; AND the beginning of his Calling Out of a kind of spiritual first fruits from this world.

Israel coming out of Egypt is an instructive analogy that God has been calling out a kind of first fruits from the very beginning; as a spiritual creation.

The physical creation was completed in six days, and a spiritual spring harvest will be completed in six thousand years; and BOTH are then followed by a Sabbath of Rest with our Maker.

These things are a matter of spiritual discernment; by understanding that God is consistent and is teaching us the same message in different ways!

The High Days and Festivals were not made because of any historical event! No, rather God brought the historical events about to provide us with practical object lessons to help us to understand spiritual things!

The Seventh Day Annual High Day of UB represents a Millennial Sabbath of rest with our God: AFTER the completion of the calling out [for 6,000 years] of the early first fruits from bondage to sin!

And because that Millennium begins at the end of six thousand years; and Israel came up out of the sea at the end of the sixth day: and because the analogy is perfect and complete; the resurrection of the chosen first fruits will take place at the end of the sixth day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the Appointed Year.

How can we prove this conclusively? When the final miracle working false prophet is set up in Rome, he will have 1290 days to the resurrection and a maximum of 1,335 days before he is destroyed at Christ’s coming; therefore if he is set up in the autumn we will know that the resurrection will be in the spring!

Coming Out of Spiritual Egypt

This issue is vital to understand, in order to understand the prophetic symbolism of that crossing: so let us first go through the basics of what is already known and then apply them to the prophetic significance.

Israel on the first High Holy Day, marched out of Egypt with a high hand; picturing the beginning of their Deliverance by God, picturing the beginning of a spiritual creation!

Israel is an analogy of an early calling out of a few from this world and bondage to sin for six thousand years beginning with Righteous Abel!  To be followed by the resurrection at the end of the six thousand years and a millennial Sabbath of rest with our Creator in the absence of the Adversary!

As Israel journeyed out of Egypt for six days and was delivered up from the Red Sea at the end of the sixth day to then enjoy a Sabbath of rest, that Sabbath of rest was the Seventh day of UB!

Even so, God has been Calling Out a kind of first fruits since righteous Abel until the very end of six thousand years!  To be followed by a resurrection to spirit of the chosen; to a millennial Sabbath of rest with their Maker.

As these people marched out of Egypt on the first day and were commanded to observe a Holy Day marking their “CALLING OUT” of Egypt, it pictures the beginning of God’s plan to spiritually ”CALL OUT” an elect from this world and their journey out of sin!

As we are commanded to observe a Holy Day Sabbath of rest on the seventh day of the Feast of UB;  it pictures a millennial Sabbath of rest in the presence of the Creator; of a spiritual people; as the seventh day Sabbath pictures a weekly rest with the Creator of a physical people.

We have been taught and have taught, that the physical creation was completed in SIX days and that God and man rested on the seventh day. Now we must understand that the spiritual creation must also be COMPLETED on the SIXTH day [at the end of six thousand years]; with a millennial rest on the seventh day of the week.

Brethren, we KNOW that there was a physical creation in six days and that God rested with his creation on the seventh day! And that is a type of a spiritual creation to be completed in six days [thousand years] to be followed by a millennial Sabbath of rest and peace in the presence of God and the absence of Satan.

How is it that we cannot understood that the people came out of Egypt on the First High Day of the Feast, by reason of which the first day is holy; and that this pictures the Father calling out a people beginning with Abel for six thousand years?

This all happened as a lesson for us, for the first day was not holy because they came out of Egypt for the sole reason of an historic record; but to teach us that God began his spiritual creation on the first day [at the very beginning with righteous Abel], for which reason Israel marched out of Egypt at sunset beginning the first day, at its very beginning!

To teach us that God began calling out his first fruits of a spiritual creation at the very beginning of a seven thousand year plan!

If this is not true: Explain the possession of God’s Spirit by so many of the ancients [given in FAITH, BEFORE the death of Christ] who have obeyed God in faith and are now waiting for that Sabbath of rest referred to by Paul in Hebrews 11, and the many others not mentioned specifically by Paul.

Were not Abel, Enoch, Moses, David, Elijah, Elisha, Noah, Jeremiah, Ezra and so many thousands of others called out from the very beginning of the past six thousand years? Called out in FAITH that Jesus Christ WOULD complete his mission? While we who are in Christ now must have faith that Jesus Christ DID successfully complete his mission? There is absolutely NO contradiction in this; for the Just shall LIVE BY FAITH; regardless of when they are called!

As the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is holy, showing the beginning of God’s spiritual creation; the seventh day is also holy; because it represents a millennial Sabbath of rest without Satan and in the presence of our Creator.

As the physical creation was completed in six days; and the spiritual creation is completed in six days [thousand years]; the march out of Egypt was completed in six days as an analogy of the spiritual creation of a spiritual first fruits for God!

We see that Israel marched out of Egypt on the first day; entering that Sea of Death on the morning of the sixth day and marching out of Death at the end of the sixth day; in a type of resurrection; to begin the Holy Seventh Day of rest with our Creator!

We see that the armies of Pharaoh are destroyed at the end of the sixth day; as Satan is bound at the beginning of the millennial Sabbath!

We see that the First High Day of Unleavened Bread pictures the beginning of God’s calling out of Egypt; AND the beginning of his Calling Out of a kind of first fruits from this world in the days of Abel.

Israel coming out of Egypt, is an instructive analogy that God has been calling out a kind of first fruits from the very beginning as a spiritual creation.

The physical creation, was completed in six days, and a spiritual spring harvest was completed in  six thousand years; and BOTH are then followed by a Sabbath of Rest with our Maker.

These things are a matter of spiritual discernment; by understanding that God is consistent and is teaching us the same message in different ways!

The High Days and Festivals were not made because of any historical event!  No, rather they were made to teach us spiritual truths; and then the historical events were brought about by God, to provide us with practical object lessons to help us understand those spiritual things!

They did not cross the sea on the seventh day; and the seventh day is NOT a Sabbath because they crossed the sea on that day!

The Seventh day High Day of ULB represents a Millennial Sabbath of rest with our God: AFTER the completion of the calling out [for 6,000 years] of spiritual Egypt of the first fruits!

And because that Millennium begins at the end of six thousand years; and Israel came up out of the sea at the end of the sixth day: and because the analogy is perfect and complete; the resurrection of the chosen first fruits will take place at the end of the sixth day of Unleavened Bread in the Appointed Year.

How can we prove this conclusively? When the final false prophet is set up, he will have a maximum of 1,335 days; Therefore if he is set up in the autumn we will know that the resurrection will be in the spring.

The Final Coming Out of Egypt!

With the blood of the lamb on their door posts, Israel ate and internalized the lamb along with unleavened bread and wine.

Having come under that sacrifice of the lamb, they then left Egypt with a high hand and great rejoicing.

At the end of the third day’s journey they became entrapped between the mountains and the sea; and caught in that cul de sac, Pharaoh saw his opportunity to exact a bloody revenge and pursued them.

When Israel turned south on the third day and came to Pihahirioth, Then Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he began to pursue Israel, arriving on the fifth day!

Exodus 14:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 14:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn [change direction from going to the border] and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. 14:3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.  14:4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

The people then feared exceedingly as they saw the army approaching on the fifth day and God moved the cloud between them and the pursuing army to protect the called out.

All that night of the fifth day, the wind blew dividing the sea; and in the morning the people entered the sea, crossing and rising out of the sea as the sixth day ended.

They then began rejoicing greatly as they saw that the army could not follow, having been destroyed in the sea.

Then as the sun set and the Sabbath of Rest and Rejoicing began: Moses sang a victory song to the Eternal.

Please consider the words in the context of a resurrection to spirit of the saints and their victory given by God over the evil of this world [spiritual Egypt]. You will see that the words are absolutely applicable, and that this Song of Moses being sung in heaven at the resurrection of the saints is no error, but links the final Coming Out of physical Israel from Egypt with the final Coming Out of the world of the saints on the very same day!

Exodus 14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.14:17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 14:18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

14:19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: 14:20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 14:23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, 14:25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.

14:26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. 14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 14:28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 14:30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

These things were done, not just as an historical deliverance with a prophetic application; but so that ALL Israel might learn that the Eternal IS GOD ALMIGHTY, and beside him there is NO OTHER!

Brethren, these things were done FOR US; that we might also know that the Eternal is God Almighty indeed; and beside him there is NO OTHER!

This is as much about FAITH and trust in the power of our God to deliver, as it is about anything else!

When persecution or trials come our way; we MUST trust and rely upon our Great God and GO FORWARD in HIS ways; not compromising no matter what the physical cost, that we may deliver ourselves in the resurrection to spirit at the end of the sixth day.

If we are not zealous to follow the whole Word of God now, very many of us will soon have to sincerely repent in the furnace of real affliction. Indeed, who can say that if we sin today, we will not die tonight? Our focus is always to be on the things of God and not on the things of this world.

Luke 12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

Exodus 14:31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

All of the Called Out from Abel to the present, are waiting for God to fulfill his promise of a resurrection to spirit. If they were faithful DOERS of God’s will as expressed in his commandments; if they will NOT compromise with sin; if they have trusted in the Eternal and rooted out every trace of the leaven of sin through his strength: They shall rise up out of the Sea of Death [The grave] at the end of the sixth day of Unleavened Bread, the end of the first six thousand years of the plan of God!

They shall then participate in the marriage of the Lamb, while the seven last plagues are poured out; and shall then come WITH Christ to receive their inheritance at the end of the 1,335 days (Dan 12:13).

They shall rejoice before the Father and shall sing the song of Moses and of the Lamb:

Revelation 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

The mark of the beast has existed since Satan taught the first person to rebel against God!

The mark of the beast is the mark or sign of Satan; it is REBELLION against the word and commandments of God; it IS compromise with God’s law!

Many, perhaps most in the Ekklesia today; have the mark of the beast!  For they are full of compromise with God’s law and idolize men, which is idolatry!

15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

This is the same song that Moses sang in rejoicing over the deliverance out of Egypt!

The VICTORY SONG over deliverance from the Egypt of bondage to sin, and a resurrection out of the Sea of Death!

Spiritually it is the song of rejoicing at the resurrection of the bride and the marriage of the Lamb in heaven, which is the New (marriage) Covenant iu its fullness as we are  now only espoused to Christ.

Oh what a great rejoicing in Israel on that Seventh Day of Unleavened Bread! Oh what a fantastic millennium of rejoicing the chosen saints will have as they bring the remaining harvest of first fruits into the family of God, in the very presence of the Creator himself!

Now this Moses was the mediator of the covenant called by his name and was a type of Christ the ONLY MEDIATOR of the New Covenant. Christ is the Way and the Door to salvation and the resurrection of the dead to spirit.

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Only by following HIM “withersoever he goeth” will any person be chosen to have a part on the coming resurrection to spirit.

Revelation 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

We should also remember that Daniel was told; not once, but twice; that the prophecies were sealed until the end; and that at the end; knowledge would increase, Dan 12. Many think that it was only physical knowledge which was to increase and that certainly has happened; however the clear context is spiritual knowledge and particularly an understanding of the sealed matters.

The High Holy Days are prophetic and therefore could not be fully understood until the end of the age; for they like the other prophecies were sealed; until there was a genuine need to know.

The Spring Festivals are a kind of foundation for the Fall Festivals and to properly understand the Fall Festivals it is important to remember the profound meaning of the Early or Spring Festivals.

We all should understand that the Passover is a type of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God for his creation. The Passover lamb being identified with the Creator who died for his creation, his people (1 Cor 5:7). The blood of that Passover lamb covering  and protecting them from the destroyer in Egypt; was a symbol of the blood of the Creator which atones for the sin of the sincerely repentant people and protects them from the ultimate destruction in the lake of fire.

Only Almighty God is able to destroy both body and spirit in the lake of fire,

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. [Gehenna]

The Passover lamb was eaten; showing that we must internalize the true Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ. We must turn from disobeying the Father and internalize the attitude of Jesus Christ who did obey his Father (John 13:10). We must become like him, allowing him to dwell within us through the agency of the spirit of God. Besides becoming a sacrifice, he also set us an example that we should walk [live] as he walked [lived],

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

On the Wave Offering day, the resurrected Christ ascended to the Father to “be accepted for us” (Lev 23:10-14). At the moment that his sacrifice was accepted by God the Father; he became a High Priest forever, after the order of Melchesidek.  He became our High Priest, the ONLY mediator between men and God,

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; and he became the mediator of the New Covenant through the sprinkling of his blood,

Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling

During the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Jesus Christ is pictured as the Unleavened Bread of Life (Joh 6:33, 6:35, 6:48 and 6:51). And leavening representing any type of sin.

The Unleavened Bread is a symbol of the purity and freedom from sin of Jesus Christ, and the eating of this Unleavened Bread each day pictures our need to internalize the true Bread of Life; Jesus Christ: day by day.

The seven days of the Unleavened Bread Festival, shows that for six thousand years God has been calling out a kind of first fruits; starting with righteous Abel and including all the ancient men of God; until the resurrection of first fruits at the end of the sixth day; and a Sabbath of rest or millennium on the seventh day.

The first day is a High Holy Day, since it pictures the beginning of the calling Out of God’s plan with Abel; and remembers Israel’s beginning departure from Egypt as an allegory of the beginning of God’s plan.

And the seventh day is a High Holy Day, because it pictures a Sabbath of rest and victory for Israel after they had passed through the Red Sea and Pharaoh armies had been destroyed; as an allegory of a Millennial Sabbath of rest for the whole earth; with Satan removed and man at peace in the presence of his Creator.

Remember that the first fruits resurrection must be in the Spring because a Spring Harvest MUST be reaped in the Spring.  If it is reaped in the Fall, it would be a Fall Harvest; and not a Spring Harvest! Any farm boy can tell you that!

The Feast of Weeks [Pentecost] shows an expansion of the New Covenant of first fruits, as all who live during that Millennial Sabbath of one thousand years will be called into God’s family and his Spirit will be poured out on ALL FLESH, Joel 2:28: The millennial  Kingdom of God extends the New Covenant to all humanity.

This pouring out of God’s Spirit happened only in part on that first century Pentecost; and will happen in its fullness on a Feast of Pentecost in the near future; officially beginning the millennium and the Kingdom of God!

This Pentecost Feast always falls on the day after a weekly seventh day Sabbath. The eighth day always pictures a NEW BEGINNING; and in the case of Pentecost the day after the Sabbath, is also the fiftieth day and pictures a new beginning in the kingdom of God!

The Feast of Unleavened Bread

We know that after the Creator worked for six days producing the present earth and all that is on it; that he rested on the seventh day and hallowed it [made it holy].  Setting it apart as a weekly from other days as a special day for men to rest from their labors and spend time with their Maker.

It has long been understood that the weekly Sabbath pictured a six thousand year period when men would be largely separated from God, to be followed by a millennial Sabbath of rest for the earth.  In that sense the weekly Sabbath is a regular reminder not only of creation, but of a coming millennial rest for the creation (Heb 4).

After the Passover on the 14th day of the first month in Egypt, the people were thrust out of the land, and during the daylight portion of that day spent the remainder of the 14th taking wages of the Egyptians and gathering together; actually leaving the land as the sun set, beginning the 15th day of the first month,

Exodus 12:33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. 12:34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

12:35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: 12:36 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians. 12:37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.

As the Passover was to be a memorial forever, so this night is to be remembered forever.

Exodus 12:42  It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.

This evening ending the 14th day and starting the 15th day is the beginning of the seven day Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Exodus 12:18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

12:19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. 12:20 Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

Moses wrote the five books over forty years and he sometimes used different wording in the different books. The understanding comes through the context

When the context is Passover he is talking about the beginning of the 14th day; this is made clear, Numbers 28:16 And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD. 28:17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.

When he speaks of the 14th at even in the context of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, he is speaking about the evening ending the 14th day because . . .

Leviticus 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. 23:7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile [menial] work therein. 23:8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile [work of ANY kind] work therein.

We then have a period of seven days during which unleavened bread must be eaten each day; the first and last days being Holy Convocations upon which no work may be done.  On the intermediate days work related to keeping the Feast may be done; that is acquiring food, cooking, preparing clean clothes etc. just like the intermediate days of Tabernacles.

The various Commentaries have taught that this Festival refers to our deliverance from sin at Passover and our coming out of sin [Egypt] and that these seven days show the believers walk with Christ; replacing the leaven of sin with the holiness of the Unleavened Bread of Life. That teaching is quite true as far as it goes.

We MUST indeed reject the leaven of sin, 1 Corinthians  5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

It has been taught for as long as I can remember that the first day is Holy because it represents the “coming out” of Egypt [of sin] and that the seventh day is Holy because it pictures final deliverance through the Red Sea. This is partly true and partly false.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread does picture the need to reject ALL sin and to fill ourselves with the very nature of Christ with the Unleavened Bread of Life. And since this is a direct command of God as well, it IS a sin to fail to do so when we have the means to do so.

Obviously if we are being imprisoned and this is withheld from us, or there is some other terrible circumstance, God understands that the situation is not one that we want, but one imposed on us. Further, we are responsible for what we know, many faithful martyrs in the Middle Ages etc who may not have known these things are still God’s elect.

What do the seven days of Unleavened Bread mean in their prophetic context?

Yes the Unleavened Bread pictures the purity of Christ from all sin; and our need to become pure from all sin like him!  Yet, there is far more to the Feast of ULB!

Many tens of thousands have been “Called Out” and been given God’s spirit BEFORE the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and that Pentecost in 31 A.D.. That requires an explanation!

The Father began to “Call Out” some to be a part of the coming New Covenant from the very beginning; he did so in FAITH that Christ would come and die for the sins of humanity!

Turn to Hebrews 11 and read about these people. They were called in faith by the Father, who believed that the Creator would succeed in living a sinless life and atone for his creation! The people called by the God Father in FAITH; also believed and had FAITH in the promises of God!

When Christ was successful and did live a sinless life, then dying to atone for sin and afterward being resurrected and ascending to the Father; He was accepted “for us”; as a propitiation for our sins; and made our Intercessor and High Priest.

The faith of the Father and those ancients that God the Father had called them, was justified by the WORKS of Jesus Christ.  Faith without works is dead and meaningless; for if Jesus Christ had not fulfilled his promises by his works where would we be?  Yes, FAITH is essential, but FAITH must be married with WORKS!

The seven days of Unleavened Bread have the same [somewhat expanded] meaning as the seven days of the week!

They speak of a seven thousand year plan to remove sin from a “Called Out” first fruits!  The first day being Holy because it shows the very BEGINNING of God’s  plan; with the calling of righteous Abel!  The first six days showing the removing of sin and the placing of the very nature of God within the “Called Out” of the Father.

Otherwise; why would David and Abraham and so many others have any part in the resurrection of the first fruits?  They were also called to be a part of the first fruits of God; in FAITH from the very beginning!  Now we understand from the seven day week that there were six days of creative activity to be followed by a Sabbath of rest.

We should also be able to see that the first six days of Unleavened Bread picture a six thousand year spiritual CREATIVE PROCESS of the Father “Calling Out” first fruits to become part of the bride of the Lamb!

The seventh and last Holy Day of the Feast of UB pictures a millennial Sabbath of rest!

The first Holy Day of UB pictures the beginning of God’s plan to remove sin and replace sin with the unleavened purity of Christ, in the called out first fruits.  The first six days of the Unleavened Bread Feast  pictures the six thousand years during which the Father is “Calling Out” and purifying his saints. The seventh and last Holy Day pictures a Sabbath of millennial rest and is therefore Holy.

There is a critical error now being taught by some which interferes with our understanding.  It has been taught that Israel crossed the Red Sea on the seventh day of Unleavened Bread.

No, they journeyed into the wilderness and on the end of the sixth day were delivered as they came up out of the Red Sea, and the sea closed back upon the Egyptians!

When Israel turned south on the third day and came to Pihahirioth.  Then Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he began to pursue Israel, arriving on the fifth day!

The wind blew all night after sunset ending the fifth day; and during the sixth day the people crossed through the Sea, completing the crossing before sunset. They then rejoiced over their deliverance on the seventh day, having entered a typical rest from Egypt and sin.

That is why the Song of Moses was sung at their deliverance and will also be sung again at the resurrection of the saints (Ex 15:1-19 and Rev 15:3). Please go and read the victory song of Moses after finishing this post. see the mighty victory given by God and then consider the mighty victory over Satan and death to come at the resurrection!

There two  different songs of Moses on two different occasions;  the other song of Moses is in Deu 32.

Again the understanding should be according to the CONTEXT: Which song was sung at the Red Sea and In heaven? Ex 15:1-19 and Rev 15:3!!! The SAME Song in BOTH places!!!

Exodus 15:1 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.  Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

1 Corinthians 10 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat [grain offering unleavened bread]; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

The passing through the sea was a type of baptism, and baptism is a type of death and resurrection!

The Festival of Unleavened Bread pictures a six thousand year process of “Calling Out” and perfecting the Called Out, or rejecting those who fail to overcome; followed by a resurrection out of the sea of death to a new life and a thousand year Millennial Sabbath of rest in the presence of Jesus Christ.

  1. Hi James,
Thanks for your interesting post. As someone who is a 2nd generation COGer, I am just finding it very difficult to understand your unique take on the ULB HD meanings. To my knowledge I don’t know of any other group/web ministry etc who share your understanding. Is that correct? Did you always understand it this way? What made it click for you if it wasn’t? I enjoy reading other peoples take on the scriptures, so as to test what I believe in, so this is making me have a good think.
Additionally, a group of young adults in Australia did keep ULB for the 7days for a few years and it was incredibly rewarding. There’s many ULB/Pentecost long weekends/ events around the world happening now so there is increasing understanding about this.

I have been posting this article on the seven day Pilgrim Feasts for about ten years now. I invite you to visit the Bible Studies site where I am working through John before starting studies on Salvation and thorough detailed studies on the Spring Festivals. https://theshininglight.info/articles/

No I do not know of anyone else teaching these things, there could be someone teaching a point or two but I am not aware of anyone presenting the whole package. James

  2. Days of Unleavened Bread – Then and Now

There is no comparison between 1952 and 2019. Many of the people in the WCG in 1952 had good-paying factory and brick & mortar jobs jobs and supported both their families and the church quite well. Back then they had sufficient funds to attend both the DUB and the Feast for the full 7 and 8 days.

Today, many people in the church are either retired or have much lower paying service jobs and probably a good number have to rely on two or more part-time jobs with no benefits. And the cost of employer offered health insurance is in many cases very high and takes a much larger share of en employee’s net pay than it did 66 years ago. Many health care policies also require a very high deductible before the insurance company will even pay you anything. When my wife and I worked together in a photo finishing plant in Massachusetts in the 1970s our employer paid 100% of our health care costs. That is virtually non-existent today anywhere in America.

Today, many brethren struggle just to attend the Feast of Tabernacles each year, which is true of my wife and me. Most of the brethren from 1952 are either living out their final years in retirement on a fixed income or have already died. In addition, because of the poor character of our peoples today, persecution and religious discrimination have skyrocketed compared to 1952. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find or hold any kind of a job because of the Sabbath. Many companies require Saturday work.

The true church in 2019 is much smaller than that of 1952 or even 1986. Many in the WCG who were gullible and naive have given up this walk and the spiritual struggles that go with it. The ones who are left are a much smaller group, fellowshipping in several hundred organizations compared to the handful of organizations that existed in 1952.

As a result of all of these things, it is unwise to compare the zeal of days gone by with that of the brethren today. It is simply not a fair comparison.

The fact is that God is not blessing us today because of our lack of zeal. We seek excuses to not obey and please God when if we were truly godly we would be continually seeking how we might better obey and please him.

Another key element is slavery to 1975 Armstrong tradition, and of course the desire of so many to go their own way instead of cleaving to every Word of God; which has split the brethren so that there can be several different sites in the same locations and different congregations in the same cities.

If we were zealous to turn to God and to live by every Word of God with a whole heart we would not be in our present circumstance. The Plain Truth is that so many make excuses for the present situation when the situation is our own fault for not being zealous for godliness; we are in this situation because of our own sins

We could for example set up many, more local sites, instead of large sites at tourist traps where brethren go to play.

Instead of lavishing thousands on high living the wealthier could help the less fortunate attend as the scripture commands. Indeed, the many retired people today makes it much easier for them to worship every day of the Feast since it does not take them away from work.

Then there is the abomination of the Christmas celebration disguised as the Winter Family Weekend; which could easily and should be, cancelled in favor of the Passover Unleavened Bread festival. Isn’t it strange that so called godly people will scream loudly if they are asked to give up a non biblical occasion in order to worship God as he commands on HIS Holy Festival?

At the very least why not hold local congregational services/Bible Studies every day of the Feast of UB so people could stay at home and attend every day?

Local area Feast sites could be set up based on two or three local congregations and people could remain at home while attending more locally, with transferring to other sites available. With for example, at Tabernacles, people setting up tents or booths in backyards, or in colder latitudes in their garages, basements even living rooms etc as is done by many observant Jews today. The truth is that if we wanted to obey God we would find a way, and many brethren are beginning to do so today.

In the kingdom billions will not be able to go to Jerusalem three times each year; instead the Feast will be observed in the local congregations which will sponsor and send selected representative to Jerusalem each year with the intention of everyone having an opportunity to go in their own lifetime. If we were only united and godly we could begin doing this same thing today!

We also need to make the Feasts of God Spiritual Feasts full of the knowledge of godliness, instead of party time carnal self-indulgence with annually repetitious sermons full of error and completely lacking in what God requires.

I would be surprised if any of the major corporate assemblies turned to God today; but the truth is being restored, and many individuals and families or local groups are indeed beginning to do these things today. God is looking at the people who instead of complaining and seeking excuses not to obey God like Israel in the wilderness, are seeking to please God with all their hearts.

It is time that we STOPPED making excuses for our lack of zeal for godliness and began to seek to please God in FAITH; that he will provide a way for those who want to please him, to do so!

Today hundreds are doing this very thing!

God will provide a way for those who seek to please and obey him! That is the bottom line! I suggest the Malachi studies https://theshininglight.info/?s=Malachi
    James

  3. Genuine belivers wouldn’t be able to afford a Unleavened Bread festival as the Church organisations turn everything into a spending spree.

As the churches have splintered over wars the are hidden costs believers incur besides tithing and offerings.

The big churches modern replacement of third tithe is to ask for volunteers for this or that but the voluteers are expected to shoulder all costs, which can be alot.

Today’s corporate churches are VERY FAR FROM GOD! In fact they are in the process of being rejected by God into great correction. James

  4. Here’s a new one for you – at least it was for me. After the seven days of Unleavened Bread, are you REQUIRED to eat leaven on “day eight”?

I heard someone in a Bible discussion group indicate that – adding that if you keep eating only unleavened bread for any extra days, you violate the end of Deuteronomy 12.

Doesn’t that statement impose a requirement, that ITSELF violates the end of Deuteronomy 12? Where does the “freedom we have in Christ” kick in?

The Passover is to be taken with unleavened bread, otherwise on Passover day it is permissible to eat leaven. Unleavened Bread is to be eaten each day of the seven day Feast; and NO leaven may be eaten at any time during the seven day Feast.

There is no law prohibiting eating unleavened bread anytime one desires to do so, including the eighth day after Passover or any other day; but it is not required to be eaten after the seventh day.

Leavened goods may be eaten at any time one wants, EXCEPT during the seven day Feast; but there is no requirement to eat leavened goods anywhere is scripture.

The “freedom we have in Christ” is freedom from bondage to Satan and sin, and freedom from the penalty of death for our sincerely repented sins. James

  5. After studying through this post, I’m wondering how far you would take the timeline of events in Exodus.

For instance, did the Exodus 12:2 pronouncement of “the beginning of months” happen on the first day of the week – what we now call Sunday? Dr. Thiel posted parts of a Radio Church of God Bible Study from the mid-1960s which implied the “beginning” pronouncement happened on a Thursday. I don’t know the source of that reasoning.

If Abib 1 was on a Sunday, doesn’t that mean the Israelites broke the weekly Sabbath on the 14th by plundering the Egyptians – and perhaps starting to bake bread?

Or was the computing of the days of the week for Sabbath not known to Israel at all until Exodus 16?.

There is no way that anyone could know the day of the week of the Exodus Passover since here is no way that an absolutely accurate year can be dated. This and other related questions will have to wait until Christ comes for a trustworthy accurate date and explanation. James
