Israel embarked on their journey out of Egypt as the sun set ending the 14th and beginning the 15 day of the first month. They left with great joy just as a man called out of bondage to sin by the Father accepts that calling to truth with great joy.
Now Pharaoh was most angry that he had been deprived of his slaves, and most angry over the mighty deeds of Christ used against him to deliver the people.
Enraged, Satan tried to stop Israel from departing, and today, enraged at people escaping his clutches Satan places as many stumbling blocks before the brethren as he can; seeking to discourage the brethren and make the people believe that God’s ways are harsh and difficult, so that they will give up and seek to turn away from God and to turn back into the bondage to Satan and sin of spiritual Egypt.
Just as Pharaoh chased Israel out of physical Egypt with armies, Satan chases today’s called out with his own lackeys, piling on the pressure to compromise with God and his Word.
Like in ancient times, today many brethren begin to wonder if their calling is really worth the price and the faint of heart may quickly lose sight of the POWER of their God and begin to compromise and make excuses for a lack of zeal to live by every Word of God. This was the story of Israel’s entire time in the wilderness, and it is the story of those called out from bondage to Satan and sin.
That is why this wondrous history was recorded for our edification and encouragement today. We are to learn that when facing trials, we are not to try and face them alone; there is a Great and Mighty God upon whom we can call.
Our Father in heaven loves us, and so does our espoused Husband Jesus Christ; as we read on the Passover.
Brethren we are beloved of God, the very apple of his eye!
When we suffer ill for him, his reward is great!
Philemon 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
To return to the slavery of sin is to return to suffering, decay and death; yet Satan tries to make it so easy for us to turn away from God and to return to his slavery of sin. It is always easy to give up the race and turn back into sin surrendering to the spiritual Pharaoh. The hard way is to resist him and to stand firm against him, yet if we do so, he WILL flee before us, because he KNOWS the POWER of our Champion!
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Most of today’s COG Groups do not condemn sin nor teach repentance with any kind of zeal, they tolerate much sin to attain organizational unity; and in doing so create division between the brethren and God the Father.
Brethren, to tolerate sin is to separate ourselves from God, for Isaiah 59:1-2, tells us that our sins are the only thing that can separate us from our God.
There is a superficial show of worldly wisdom in saying that God is love and because he is love he will not correct us; but that idea is only ignorance of what love really is.
Will you watch your beloved walk out in front of a speeding truck and not call out a warning? Is it any different to watch this world or one of your brethren rushing to his destruction and not warn him of his sin?
Love does not tolerate or overlook sin!
1 Corinthians 13:6 LOVE . . . . Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Such wicked men who pervert love into compromise with God’s Word, turning his grace and forgiveness into a license to sin, would lead you back into spiritual Egypt!
Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying [or perverting the teachings of] the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
They are the mixed multitude of thorns, brambles and tares that accompany Israel, physical or spiritual; wherever they are.
1 Timothy 6:3 If any man teach otherwise [from Christ], and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Brethren, when we are persecuted and pressured; GOD IS WATCHING US to see if we will run to HIM for our refuge, or if we will try and save ourselves by ourselves through compromising and going back into bondage to sin.
The greater the trials the faster we should take a stand for our God and RUN TO HIM TO DEFEND US.
That is the lesson of the six days journey out of Egypt and the entrapment of the people before the sea by Pharaoh.
When we are persecuted and suffering; we are NOT to compromise with God’s Word and wink at sin: NO, NO, NEVER!
We are to take a firm stand on the Word and will of God and do as HE commands: then we are to trust in HIM and his great deliverance as he parts the sea for us! Always remembering that the sea he parts is the sea of death, bringing forth those who trust in him and DO his will in a resurrection out of that sea of death called the grave.
We may face persecutions and trials in this life, we many even face a horrible death; yet if we remain faithful and diligent: We SHALL be raised up on that day and our reward will be commensurate with our suffering and our steadfast overcoming in Christ!
While the compromisers will be rejected and will be driven away by our LORD:
Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Luke 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
13:29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 13:30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
Many who think that they are great now; will be kept out of God’s resurrection by their compromising attitudes and willingness to look back longingly at Egypt as did the faithless of Israel
During the seven day Feast of Unleavened Bread, God uses leaven as an example of sin, and we are to remove every trace of leaven from our homes and our bodies so that no leaven is seen in our dwellings.
If we learn the lesson that we are to diligently remove every trace of sin out of our lives, we do well; but if we remove physical leaven and then permit the spiritual leaven of sin to remain, we have missed the point and learned nothing.
Brethren, have we not read that a little leaven, leavens the whole lump? Let us then work diligently to remove every trace of the leaven of sin out of our lives! Let us remove that physical leaven which is known and seen; and then diligently study seeking God’s direction and help to remove that spiritual leaven of sin which is still unseen by us.
Today there is much idolatry and sin and of taking the easy way and following the false traditions of men among the brethren in all the major COG Groups.
Let us go forward and onward by the might of our God; OUT of spiritual Egypt and out of bondage to Satan and sin.
Let us go forward and onward, overcoming Pharaoh [Satan] the god king of this world, through FAITH is out Great God and Deliverer!
If we are rejected by our friends and persecuted for our love of God and faith in him; remember that our Lord himself so suffered and very many of his true saints also.
